STORY + CIVIC HEALTH
Landmark investment in 'arts of democracy' and 'arts beyond the museum', described by the Australia Council as 'the most comprehensive community cultural development undertaking in the country'.
Courageously, 500 citizens in central Queensland and Rockhampton chose to develop cultural works through an integrated program of cultural research, mapping and curating 'place' to 're-story' regional narrative in a process that met their needs and hopes.
This new model of working together with a mediator to find ways to address regional image issues, social cohesion, health, and youth crime, then enabled an artist to focus on international achievers from the region as mentors to provide youth resources and ways to know less harmful life pathways.
